About Me


Chris’s career started at Steinway London completing an eight year apprenticeship.
The following 2 years were spent working from the Steinway London rebuild center and serving as an outside technician/tuner. This involved not only annual service work for music institutions such as The Royal Northern College of Music, The Royal Scottish Academy of Music, Birmingham Conservatoire, London College of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Trinity College of Music & Queens University Belfast, but also work for Steinway Artists, including assisting in maintenance of Steinway London concert fleet. He has also worked in nearly all the major concert Halls within the U.K.


Subsequently he worked on a freelance basis subcontracting to Steinway and the Steinway agent in Cambridge and working privately for artists and venues.


His work at this time included concert tunings for artists Piotr Anderszewski, Cristina Ortiz, Lars Vogt & Grigory Sokolov, Oscar Peterson and Composers such as John Rutter and with venue work including The South Bank  Centre & Henry Wood Hall. Events he has been involved with included BBC Jazz Awards and the International Piano Series .


Work has taken him abroad for artists, music institutions and concert halls in New Zealand Switzerland and Portugal.


He has enjoyed preparing pianos for Recordings sessions including the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Record labels he has worked for include  Universal, Virgin Classics,  and Toccata Classics.


Currently he is the piano technician in residence at the Cork School of Music, in charge of general service and upkeep of the schools' 60 Steinway grands & preparing the concert pianos for the many visiting artists who perform at the school. The Irish Chamber Orchestra Peter Donohoe, Stephen Hough & Philippe Cassard to name but a few.


The concert pianos have also been used for commercial recording by Universal Records and R.T.E for both T.V & Radio.
